Travel Grants

SCURC offers Travel grants to undergraduates who are presenting at or attending conferences related to their discipline. These awards can be put towards the expenses students incur in travel or registration costs for these events.

The presentation grant can provide up to $500 in funding each academic year.

The attendance grant can supply up to $200 in funding for first-time conference attendees, to allow more students to gain valuable networking and discipline-specific exposure earlier in their undergraduate careers.

Applicants may apply to either a presentation grant or an attendance grant. An applicant should not apply to both grants. It will not increase their chance of receiving a grant, as they will only be considered for one. If you will be presenting at a conference, apply for a presentation grant. Otherwise, apply for an attendance grant.

Email our travel grants chair Lydia Fertil if you:

  • have questions about travel grants or finding and applying to conferences
  • are working on a research or creative project and want to present it
  • want to check out our growing database of undergraduate and professional research conferences in a variety of fields
  • know of a conference we should add to the list

We also recommend asking your research mentor about conferences that you could attend.
