Executive Branch

Public Notice:  The Florida State University Student Government Association would like to inform you of a new funding initiative created this year, which will replace our Sweepings Committee process from previous years. This board will be called The RSO Budget Fund and was established by the previous administration. It is a board specifically for Registered Student Organizations on campus with $150,000.00 available to allocate. During this process, a committee chaired by the Student Senate Budget Committee Chair Briana Rodriguez and Vice Chair Mary Obianwuzu will review proposals sent in by each organization requesting funding from SGA for their budget.

The 76th Student Senate has limited funds available as part of the RSO Budget Fund process.

Budget Fund requests are due no later than Friday, November 8th at 9:00 AM. The Budget Committee Chair will coordinate with the Student Body Treasurer's office to develop a list of recommended funding allocations, which will be considered by the Budget Committee between November 20th and November 27th. The final RSO Budget Fund bill is expected to be considered by the Student Senate during its November 27th meeting. This schedule is tentative and subject to change if additional time is needed. All meeting dates will be publicly noticed on the SGA website. Once a final RSO Budget Fund bill has been approved, funds will be distributed by SGA Accounting as soon as readily available.

Powers of the Executive Branch reside in the Student Body President and Vice President. Their fellow students elect them each spring semester to:

  • Administer and enforce Student Body laws
  • Sign or veto Senate acts
  • Call and preside over Student Body meetings
  • Recommend legislation to the Senate
  • Create programs that address the needs of students or improve the campus

Working to enhance the quality of life for students, the executive officers voice concerns of students to the administration and community and help resolve those concerns.

Student Body President

The Student Body President sits on several boards – the FSU Board of Trustees, the Student Affairs Advisory Council, the Athletics Board and the Foundation Board of Trustees and serves on or appoints designees to various FSU committees and advisory boards. The Student Body President appoints students to vacant Senate seats and directors for the Executive Cabinet, Bureaus and Agencies.

Executive Cabinet

The Executive Cabinet works closely with the Student Body President and Vice President to implement the administration’s goals. The directors and assistant directors of the executive cabinet advise the two officers about concerns of particular segments of the student body. Each director manages a Student Government function or program.
