Transfer Leadership Institute's 2025 cohort application
What is TLI?
The Transfer Leadership Institute (TLI) is an executive project within the Student Government Association at Florida State University. The program encompasses weekly workshops, interest groups, a weekend retreat, and a peer mentor program for student participants. During the workshops students are exposed to campus resources, opportunities, leadership development activities, and much more. This unique opportunity allows transfer students to make connections and build relationships with other FSU students interested in leadership, personal, and professional development. Not only do students have the opportunity to network, but they also gain valuable knowledge and skills to leave a legacy at our university. If selected, students will participate in a ten-week long session; on average, our program typically consists of approximately twenty-five students.
Mission
The Transfer Leadership Institute's mission is to provide personal, professional, and leadership growth opportunities for ambitious transfer students through programming, peer mentoring and educational experiences that impact the Florida State University student body and its surrounding community. Through the program, participants will become active, engaged leaders who will make substantial contributions to the Florida State University community. The values of this prestigious Institute shall be rooted in the values expressed in Seminole Creed (link to https://dos.fsu.edu/resources/the-seminole-creed).
The program has three main components:
-
Peer Mentorship:
Each cohort member will be paired with a peer mentor who will provide guidance and assistance as the student becomes more involved on campus. They will also be placed into a “family group” led by an executive board member to foster a deeper sense of community.
-
Leadership Opportunities:
Students will gain exclusive access to a TLI-only organization fair, providing the chance to network in a more personal setting. They will also take part in leadership workshops designed to help them identify and develop their strengths.
-
Professional Development:
Participants will enhance their professional materials, like resumes and LinkedIn profiles, as well as complete mock interviews and networking exercises to build confidence and real-world skills.
