Printing with Student Publications

Printing Process:

  1. Before sending any design to Student Publications, proofread the file to verify the accuracy of dates/times, and to scan for any misspellings. These are mistakes that cannot be corrected once a design is printed.
  2. Add the SGA logo to the design. The logo must occupy at least 1/30 of the design and cannot be altered in any way. Please visit our Seals and Logos page to download approved versions of the SGA logo that can be used.
  3. Come in person to the Student Publications office with your paper. Please be aware that Student Publications does not accept print requests without the physical presence of a member of the organization.
  4. Send the design to the Student Publications email, fsustudentpublications@gmail.com. Files may also be sent to SP via USB, OneDrive, or Google Drive.
  5. In most cases, small print jobs (under 200 pages) can be printed on the spot at the time of the request. Large print jobs (over 200 pages or large format) must be printed in batches and may require more time to complete. The Student Publications member may recommend returning to our office at a later time to pick up the print (requester will be notified of finished print job via email).

What Do I Need To Print?:
Printing with Student Publications is entirely free of charge on behalf of student organizations recognized under SGA. The only thing you must provide for the request is the paper that the print job will require.

Depending on the type of material you are trying to print, you will have to consider the size of paper and paper type needed for the job.

Standard Printing (8.5” x 11”):
This size of paper is required for the printing of anything the size of a standard sheet of paper or smaller. This includes but is not limited to: flyers, handbills, business cards, brochures, etc. For general printing, please provide a ream of Hammermill Premium Multipurpose 24lbs Paper. To print materials on thicker paper, Student Publications can accept anything over 24lbs, with the recommended thickness for materials like business cards being 67lbs.
*NOTE: Student Publications cannot print on any paper lower than 24lbs thickness, it will jam our printer. If you bring us paper below the required weight it will not be accepted.

Small Poster Printing (11” x 17”):
This paper is primarily used for the printing of small posters and full size booklet-style printing. The paper required for this kind of printing is Hammermill Premium Laser Print, 24lbs, 11 x 17. Pictured below:

Large Format Printing (24” x ??”):
This size is used for the printing of large posters, banners, and backdrops. Because this paper comes in a large roll, the size is only limited by the width of the roll (24”) and not by the length. For backdrops, which typically have a thickness wider than 24”, multiple pages are printed which must then be assembled and affixed together by a representative/s from the requesting organization.

The recommended paper is HP C1860A DesignJet Bond Wide Format Roll, 24” x 150’, 24lb. Pictured below:
