The purpose of the Outreach Committee is to expand the influence of HLSU on campus and in the Tallahassee community. You’ll be working with several campus departments, partners and the Latinx Faculty Network to ensure that others know what HLSU does and who we are. This committee will create outreach tactics for HLSU.
The purpose of the Public Relations Committee is to create marketing and social media campaigns for HLSU. This committee will be charged with the creation of our yearly publication and end-of-year video.
The purpose of the Events Committee is to facilitate and break-down our events and assist in planning large scale events, such as our Pageant, Festival and Gala! This committee will provide input in the creation of each of our events to ensure a positive experience for our guests.
The purpose of the Professional Development Committee is to assist in the creation and running of our Spring Latinx Leadership Institute. This committee will prepare professional development activities and coordinate with several campus partners/departments to expand professionalism within the Hispanic/Latinx community.
Angie Cintron Memorial Scholarship
The Angie Cintron Memorial Scholarship will be given to one undergraduate student at Florida State University who has contributed to the campus community through participation in the Hispanic/Latinx Student Union prior to the Spring 2020 semester. The Student must show financial need and exhibit leadership qualities. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually on a competitive basis. This scholarship is awarded in memory of Angelique Cintron, who attended FSU in 1997 and had an untimely death before she had an opportunity to finish her studies. This is being awarded by her family in loving memory of Angie. Awards will be distributed as a $500 direct deposit to your student account during Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.
Must be a current student at Florida State University. Completed at least fifteen units of college work prior to submission of their application.
Have at least a 2.0 grade point average and be in good standing with the University.
Must be enrolled at Florida State University for the Fall 2020 semester and be in attendance through the Spring 2021 semester.
Expect to be enrolled full-time and must carry a minimum of twelve credits.
Students serving on the scholarship selection committee are not eligible to receive the award.
Open to all students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Contributed to the campus community through participation in the Hispanic/Latinx Student Union (HLSU) prior to the Spring 2020 semester.
