
JOE AND HELEN PLANT SCHOLARSHIP:
Joseph Plant served as a teacher and administrator in
the Engineering Science Department at The Florida State
University from 1947 to 1972. He was very active in
the FSU ODK Circle and served as Province III Deputy
for 12 years. Helen Plant taught Biology at Leon High
School. After their deaths, their children and close
friends endowed the ODK Scholarship to be awarded annually
(or more often) to the most outstanding ODK member for
that Term. To be eligible, a full time undergraduate
or graduate student must be a participating member of
ODK in good standing, must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher,
and must be a full time student in the term immediately
following the award.
Assuming that you meet the above criteria,
you are invited to apply for this scholarship. Selection
will be made by a Committee of ODK student and faculty
members and will be announced at the ODK initiation
in April 2005. The recipient will receive a Certificate
and will be granted a $500 scholarship at the beginning
of the Fall Semester, 2005.

DR. STEPHEN S. WINTERS ENDOWED
SCHOLARSHIP:
Dr. Stephen S. Winters was professor of Geology
at Florida State University from 1949 to 1990. He served
as Dean of the Honors Program and served for years as
Faculty Secretary to Omicron Delta Kappa where his dedication
to the organization is legendary. Before his death on
July 5, 2003, dedicated ODK members and close friends
endowed a scholarship in Dr. Winters’ name.
Students are eligible to apply if
they:
- Are juniors or seniors at FSU;
- Are members of ODK;
- Have a minimum 3.1 GPA with preference given to
students with a 3.5 or higher GPA;
- Are enrolled for at least 12 credit hours each semester
while receiving the award.
- Previous award recipients are eligible to re-apply
so long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements
listed above.
Assuming that you meet the above criteria,
you are invited to apply for this scholarship. Selection
will be made by a Committee of the ODK Faculty Advisor
and/or the ODK Faculty Secretary, an ODK Alumnus/Alumna,
and the ODK President or his/her designee and will be
announced at the ODK initiation April 2005. The recipient
will receive a Certificate and will be granted a $500
scholarship at the beginning of the Fall Semester, 2005.
