News: 3/19 FSU lost a tough battle to Indiana University last Wednesday night. Indiana was currently touring the south as they prepared for their upcoming D1 Playoff match against Bowling Green. We want to thank Indiana for coming down and allowing us to play against a quality opponent. FSU tries were scored by Dylan Hamilton and Mark Faimalie. FSU lost a close battle to FAU 20-18 to get eliminated from the national playoffs. FSU went ahead with less than two minutes left with a try by Captain Chris Munoz and a conversion by Dylan Hamilton. However, late penalty trouble cost FSU when FAU had the opportunity to convert a penalty kick with no time left on the clock to the win the game. Our next game is a Wednesday night showdown against Indiana University at 7pm. 2/21/09 FSU loses a tough battle to USF 41-12 to determine who the Number 1 seed of the north would be. FSU took a 12-10 halftime lead, but mental errors by the Noles were capitalized by the talented Bulls. This game came down to the team that made the least mistakes would win. FSU now travels to Boca Raton, FL on March 7 to take on the FAU Owls in the first leg of the South playoffs. FSU previously defeated FAU 12-0 in Florida Cup Action on January 31. 2/14/09 FSU defeats UNF 28-7 in matrix play for the first time in two years, knocking UNF out of the playoffs and improving their Spring record to 6-1. Tries were scored by wing Elio Solari (2) and inside center Evan Keel (2). Conversions were made by Dylan Hamilton and Spencer Porter. FSU plays USF on February 21 in Tampa, FL with the winner being the #1 seed in the North Division and the loser being the #2 seed. The winner will host a playoff game against the South #2 team on March 7, while the loser will travel in a playoff game against the South #1 team. There was also a competitive B game pitting FSU B vs a UNF B side that was filled with 8 FSU players. 2/2/09 FSU defeats the defending Florida Cup Champions FAU 12-0 to improve their overall spring record to 4-1 and posting their second shutout of the season. Tries were scored by Elio Solari and Kyle Klein (who made his first start at 8 Man). Photos are up in the multimedia section. Also, FSU’s B squad defeated a mashup squad of UCF/FAU/USF players. 22-12. However, check back shortly for our new spring schedule as well as our updated roster! 10/31/08 - Congratulations to FSU Rugby's A team for defeating GA tech 24 - 12. Tries were scored by Dylan Hamilton (2) and Kirk Swanner. Penalty kick converted by Dylan Hamilton. Also, FSU's B team put up a valiant effort against Emory University's A team and should be applauded for their efforts. Friday, October 24, vs UF. B game kickoff at 6:00pm, A game at 7:30pm. Come out and support us versus the Florida Gator's! 10/20/08 - FSU loses a tough battle to USF 13-12. Tries were scored by Kirk Swanner and Alex Cherry. FSU takes the field again this Friday night against rival Florida in Tallahassee. B game starts at 6:00pm followed by the A game at 7:30 pm. 10/10/08: Future game times announced. Saturday, October 18 vs USF. B game kickoff at 1:00pm, A game kickoff at 2:30 pm. Stay around for FSU vs UF women’s rugby action immediately following! 10/7/08: FSU Rugby is proud to announce that Alex Cherry will be stepping in as the new President of the team. He is a third year lock with great leadership skills and he is excited for this great opportunity to lead the club. September 5, 2008: FSU lost a tough battle to UNF 17 -0 . Man of the Match Honors goes to Josh “Sunshine” Langley for his hard hitting, being at every ruck, and never giving up. Next match is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, at Embry Riddle in Daytona Beach. • FSU Rugby just finished their adopt – a – road cleanup for the summer.
