MISSION STATEMENT

“RESPECT, SERVICE & ELITE PERFORMANCE”

The Florida State University Rugby Football Club seeks to foster an environment in which our student athletes can develop into men of character through hard work and community service. In all of our activities we will represent Florida State University, the City of Tallahassee and the State of Florida honourably. 

Respecting the game, our opponents and officials at all times is our top priority. FSU rugby players are driven to become elite performers, tirelessly seeking to take their game to the next level:  representing the State of Florida, the South Region and the USA Rugby Eagles.

 

About Rugby

The Florida State University Men’s Rugby Football Club is an entirely student-run organization founded in 1972. In recent years, the FSU RFC has experience great growth in both participation and organization of the club. FSU RFC has also had plenty of recent success, with its highest honor being winning the 2005 USA Rugby South Championship and taking part in the Division 2 Elite Eight National Championship Playoffs.

 

Rugby is a unique sport that combines all of the basic tenants of athleticism into one game. It requires speed, strength, endurance, agility, fearlessness, and mental toughness to succeed. There is also a unique social aspect to the sport that is only found in rugby. By playing rugby, you become part of an international fraternity that cannot be matched anywhere else.
For those that are interested in playing rugby, it is important to note that experience is not necessary to play, as rugby is still a growing sport in the United States. Size does not matter as well, as rugby is unique in that there is a spot on the field for everyone.
