Position Descriptions

Assistant Director
Works primarily with FLI participants
Communicates with campus partners
Updates the program outline for each class

Assistant Director of Operations
Works in hand with AD in making sure supplies are prepped for
Typing pluses and deltas at the end of each workshop
Works with applications and interview set up

Assistant Director of Administration
Keeps track of participant assignments
Keeps track of participant attendance
Documents all assessments
Second signer for budgets

Assistant Director of Mentors
Work with recruitment of student mentors
Will set up mandatory trainings for mentors
Will be in charge of mentor workshop activities

Assistant Director of Activities
Makes sure that expectations are met over family groups
In charge of reserving space for FLI events
Oversees Homecoming events




Peer mentors play an important role in the Freshman Leadership Institute. As the “go to” person for each participant, mentors provide students with information, encouragement and guidance as they adjust to their new life as a college student.

Mentor Roles

   Promote academic excellence
   Encourage student development
   Share knowledge of campus services and resources
   Help student establish career and educational goals Behave as a reliable and consistent resource of support    and inspiration

Selection and Obligations

   Students interested in becoming a Peer Mentor must meet the following requirements:
   Attended Florida State University for at least two semesters
   Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average

Important Dates

Student participants are required to attend all dates listed below.

*There are an additional 2-4 hours per week time committment outside of workshops. The new important dates are as follows:

   August 3rd: FLI Applications available
   August 28th: FLI Applications due
   August 31st-September 4th: FLI Interviews
   September 14th-November 16th: FLI Workshop clases held every Monday 4-6 p.m. *MANDATORY*
   September 26th: FLI Retreat at the Rez All Day (tentative)
   November 30th: First Year Experience Banquet
