Meet the Executive Board
My name is Lindsey Slater and I am the Director of the Asian American Student Union. I am a Senior Interior Design major from Palm Bay, FL. In my free time, I like to spend time with friends, exercise, and watch Law and Order: SVU. I joined AASU because I wanted to get more in touch with my heritage and create a family away from home.
My name is Rosalyn Chen, and I'm the assistant director for AASU. I am a senior majoring in English Literature. I'm from Boca Raton and I like to read in my free time. I joined AASU to give greater presence to the Asian American community on campus, and to make friends!
Hello, my name is Jully Dong. I am the secretary for Asian American Student Union in the 2017-2018 year. I am currently a sophomore studying Civil Engineering and minoring in Chinese. I enjoy watching anime, Asian dramas, and listening to music.
I wanted to be part of an organization where I can meet people who come from similar backgrounds as me and learn more about my own heritage. Going to a small school where I was one of the few Asians who can speak English, it became hard for me to relate to my friends who were raised in an Americanized environment or my Asian friends who grew up in a more traditional upbringing. Hearing that Florida State had an Asian American Student Union piqued my interest and since last year, I have been involved in AASU and even became a participant of the LEAD program.
Hi, my name is Joyce Chiang, and I'm a current junior at Florida State University. I'm majoring in Finance and minoring in Chinese. I was first introduce to AASU through Fan Dance and have been a part of it ever since. Through AASU, I have learned so much about my own culture and what it means to be Asian-American. I've made so many great friends and memories, and I cannot wait to make more by serving on AASU's executive board.
My name is Stephanie Lee and I serve as the Programming Coordinator of the Asian American Student Union.
My name is Amber Chu and I'm a sophomore here at Florida State University! I'm currently a Global Club Management and Leadership major, which is under the Dedmen school of Hospitality, but Public Relations has always been a field of interest for me. Some of my hobbies include dancing (I'm on the Capitill State dance team which is run through FSA), petting dogs on Landis green, pretending I know how to cook by watching tasty videos, and ,of course, submitting Snapchats to the campus story.
The reason I joined AASU was because I haven't always been fortunate enough to have an Asian community in my life, but I've always felt more comfortable when I'm with people that understand my culture. I joined the eboard because I want to help other students at FSU feel like they have a group of people to call their family here on campus. So if I haven't met you yet, please come say hi to me because I more than likely want to be your friend.
My name is Elaine Ignacio and I serve as the Education Coordinator of the Asian American Student Union. I am a junior double majoring in International Affairs and History, with a passion for cultural studies and social justice. As Education Coordinator, I hope to facilitate discussion about our Asian identities and the issues that plague us, both in and out of our community. In my free time I enjoy video games, Netflix, and flooding my snap story with videos of my two rabbits.
